A witness on a case of illegal storage of arms in Dagestan reported shadowing

Resident of Khasavyurt district of Dagestan Magomed Sulaev who was earlier detained by members of power ministries reported shadowing which started after he was acknowledged witness for the defense on Anvar Guseiniv’s case.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on July, 20, masked people carried Magomed Sulaev and Anvar Guseiniv away by force in an unknown direction the moment when they were coming out of the mosque. After their relatives’ appeal to local department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation it emerged that Sulaev and Guseiniv were kept in district Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt. On July, 21, Sulaev was released from the Department, no charges were brought against him. Guseinov was left in custody within the framework of investigation of a criminal case of deliberate destruction of alien property. He is also suspected of illegal storage of arms.

During trial currently going on in Khasavyurt district court lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova entered a motion to summon Magomed Sulaev for evidence as a witness for the defense on December, 10. “On December, 7, Sulaev asked me for help telling me that during the past two or three weeks he noticed shadowing and was fearing for his life”, Magomedova said.

According to Sulaev himself, during the past several weeks he noticed a “Lada-Priora” car with tinted glasses and without vehicle identification numbers near his house and also following him on his way. “I saw armed people who came out of the car and started for the café where I was sitting. After all that happened to me this July, I fear for my life and expect all kinds of provocations”, Sulaev says.
