NAC: persons killed in KBR had links with militants and extorted money from businessmen

The four suspected militants killed today in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) have been identified. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) of the Russian Federation, they were engaged in supplying members of the armed underground with arms and ammunition; and were involved in extorting money from businessmen. Eight suspected militants were also detained in the course of today's special operation.

Last night, the Baksan District of the KBR was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. In the morning near the village of Baksanyonok three alleged members of the armed underground were killed. According to the MIA, in a shootout with power agents, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) got triggered in militants' cars. Another young man, who rendered, according to power agents, armed resistance, was killed in the Terek District at the attempt of detention.

According to the NAC, those killed were a previously convicted A. Tleuzhev, born in 1976, who acted as the organizer of supply of weapons; Kh. Makoev, born in 1975, who was a "financier" of the Baksan militant grouping, A. Dzagashtov, born in 1976, and A. Mamreshev, born in 1979.

In the course of the operation in Baksan, in the basement of the blocked house, power agents liquidated a laboratory for making IEDs; several ready-to-use devices and a variety of components to them were found there, the of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to the NAC.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of casualties' relatives regarding their affiliation with militants.
