Residents of Kaspiysk report detention of the congregation in one of the mosques of the town

On December, 6, about ten parishioners were detained in one of the mosques of Kaspiysk, Dagestan, a local resident informed the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to our interlocutor, at about 19:00 the personnel of municipal Department of Interior Affairs entered the mosque after the night prayer and detained a group of parishioners.

“The Muslims were detained selectively, only the ones wearing beards. The detainees were taken to municipal police department. After their identity was verified by the data bases and their fingerprints were lifted the people were released”, the source reported.

According to him, all the detainees were released by 21:00.

“It was an attempt of pressure on local Salafit community by members of the top brass for all the people detained were adherents of this trend in Islam”, the townsmen surmised.

Officers of the standby unit of municipal Department of Interior Affairs did not confirm the information of detention of the congregation in the mosque to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
