Tbilisi court releases Akhmed Chataev on bale
The Tbilisi City Court has released the citizen of Russia Akhmed Chataev, who was detained in the course of a special operation conducted in Lopota Gorge, under the bale of 5000 laris, as the "Information Centre Kakheti" reports.
Chataev was detained in Lopota Gorge, where the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia conducted a special operation aimed to liquidate militants. He is accused of illegal storage of an explosion device. Nino Andriashvili, Chataev's advocate, found the charges illegitimate, since, according to her story, Akhmed Chataev came to Lopota Gorge as a mediator for the talks, which failed; and he was detained.
On December 6, the court decided to release Chataev on bale, thus upholding the petition of the General Prosecutor's Office on changing the freedom restriction measure, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.
The defendant shall pay 5000 laris (about 3000 US dollars) within 30 days; his relatives express their readiness to pay the bale right today, the "Georgia Online" writes.
