Anna Kokoeva, wife of ex-editor of an oppositional web-site Uasamonga.ru Soslan Kokoev, activist of campaign office of candidate for presidency of North Ossetia Alla Djioeva, went on a hunger strike in Elista. The woman was detained for suspicion of bribing an official of the penal facility.

On April, 11, Soslan Kokoev was sentenced to three years of custody in a general regime colony for storage of drugs by Sovietsky district court of Vladikavkaz. His wife Anna was detained on November, 28, in Elista where her husband was serving penalty in “Salyn Penal colony No 1”, civil activist Elina Marzoeva told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“She went there to find out how Soslan Kokoev could submit a request of correctional work as an alternative to release on parole he had a right of according to the law. She was advised to pay off 400 thousand rubles. She talked to deputy chief of the colony. He said that for this sum of money they would process all his documents. As a result of bribery Anna Kokoeva was arrested. She may now be sentenced to 5 to 10 years of custody and a fine of 12 million rubles”, Elina Marzoeva said.

According to Elina Marzoeva, the arrested woman against whom a criminal case according to clause 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribery) was initiated is now in the investigative isolation ward.

“The investigative bodies of Kalmykia did not let her out on her own recognizance. They even ignored the fact that she had five children to take care of, four underage and one seriously ill child”, Marzoeva said.
