Russian, Transcaucasian religious leaders discuss peacekeeping activities in Caucasus

Russian, Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian religious leaders have discussed peacekeeping activities in the Caucasus in Moscow's Svyato-Danilov monastery on March 2.

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II, Chairman of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples Sheikh Allakhshukyur Pasha-zade, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Iliya II and Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II took part in the meeting.

The Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian spiritual leaders arrived in Moscow on March 1 to participate in the 2nd CIS Interfaith Peacekeeping Forum, which is being held on the initiative of Patriarch Alexis II and Allakhshukyur Pasha-zade on March 2-3.

The aim of the forum is to coordinate actions of CIS traditional religious organizations for the consolidation of interethnic and interfaith peace, traditional spiritual values, social assistance to the population and joint fight against common threats, including terrorism.
