Organizers of a meeting against corruption in Dagestan report refusal of the Ministry of Justice to receive their notification of the action

Officials of the Ministry of Justice of Dagestan refused to receive a notification of holding an anti-corruption meeting, the organizers of the action informed the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to one of the organizers of the meeting Ruslan Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the board of Dagestani regional non-governmental organization ”Union for protection of human and citizen’s rights”, member of the Council or regional branch of “Fair Russia” party, the meeting was planned on December, 7. Several non-governmental movements, “Tabasaran” anti-corruption Committee and foundation “Our Dagestan” were among its organizers.

Five thousand participants were expected to come. The action was planned under two slogans: against corruption and in support of the Resolution of an Extraordinary Congress of the peoples of Dagestan held in Moscow on October, 26. The participants of the Congress then expressed distrust to President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov and appealed to President of Russia to hold early election of Head of the republic.

According to Rasulov, the refusal received from the Ministry of Justice of Dagestan on November, 28, was motivated by the provision of law that prohibits such actions near the buildings of courts. However, the organizers state that they were planning the action in Pobeda Park that is on the list of permitted places.

On November, 30, the organizers of the action submitted a lawsuit of acknowledgment of the actions of the officials of the Ministry illicit to Sovietsky court of Makhachkala.
