"Rospotrebnadzor" allows 40 Georgian producers of mineral water, wines and cognac to enter Russian market

In total, 37 producers of alcoholic beverages from Georgia and four mineral water bottlers were allowed to submit documents for registration in Russia, the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russia's Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) has reported today about the outcomes of the voyage of Russian specialists to Georgia.

The website of the Agency reports that they have inspected 37 wineries of Georgia; and the inspection results have, in general, confirmed the data presented by Georgian producers.

According to Gennady Onischenko, the head of the "Rospotrebnadzor", the Georgian factories were allowed to present about 200 wines and the mineral water "Borjomi" for registration in the Russian Federation wineries.

He added that so far no decision was made about registration of the Georgian grape vodka (known as "chahcha"). "However, during the second inspection that may start on March 25, we expect to make a final decision," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the head of the "Rospotrebnadzor" as saying.
