Stavropol: consideration of suit against the ban of wearing hijabs at schools to be held on March 21

The Stavropol Territorial Court has heard, at its preliminary session on the lawsuit lodged against the ban on wearing hijabs at schools, the petitions and evidence of the parties and decided that the consideration on the merits will take place on March 21.

The lawsuit asking to cancel the respective resolution of the government of the Stavropol Territory was initiated, in the interests of a number of Russian citizens, by Murad Musaev, Doctor of Law and the head of the law firm "Musaev and Partners", the lawyer Musa Pliev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The court will rule whether girls can wear headscarves at educational establishments or not," Musa Pliev has explained.

According to his story, the lawsuit is based on the fact that the above resolution violates citizens' rights, in particular, the right of Muslims to wear their religious clothes.

"We asked the court to ensure the presence of the school managers from the village of Kara-Tyube, Neftekumsk District, who had initiated all the mess. They removed schoolgirls from studies, when they saw them in headscarves. We want to hear from school bosses about their grounds and reasons to restrict girls in their constitutional right to the freedom of religion and education," Mr Pliev has concluded.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of representatives of the responding party on the essence of the lawsuit.
