The new version of the CD “Stalin’s execution lists” prepared by “Memorial International” includes the names of 43500 convicts, 33 thousand out of them have biography resumes. The CD was presented at a press conference held in Moscow on March, 5.

He reminded that 700 thousand people were executed by shooting during the years of the Big terror. The majority of them were convicted in absentia and learned about the verdict just at the moment of execution. Only 60-80 thousand persons were sentenced in person, by juridical bodies, half of them by the Military Board of the Supreme Court. The procedure lasted only 5 to 10 minutes.

Rachinsky emphasized the importance of issue of “Stalin’s execution lists” which show who personally was in charge of the repression as well as the importance of this source for studying regional history of Stalin’s terror.

Unfortunately, Rachinsky pointed out, today regional “Stalin’s lists” have been issued only in Voronezh, with the participation of “Memorial”. A similar survey is now prepared only in Georgia.
