Azerbaijan: soldier Allakhverdiev was buried without re-examination

In Azerbaijan, the demand of the parents of the Private Seimur Allakhverdiev, who perished while at his military service, to hold a repeated forensic examination was not satisfied.

The parents kept insisting; however, after arrival in the village of the official of the Military Prosecutor's Office and the Command and their assurance that the inquiry had been objective, on March 2 the soldier was buried with the parents' consent.

The funeral in the village of Kyurdamish was attended by civil activists and reporters from a number of Azerbaijani mass media. However, the policemen deployed at the entrances to the village would not let reporters and rights defenders in.

"Even after the casualty's relatives told the police that they invited us to the funeral ceremony, they tried to stop us. They wouldn't even listen to the soldier's father, who personally came to invite us," Ramin Deko, a reporter of the "Azadlyg" newspaper told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, half an hour later the relatives of the soldier arrived again to pick up the reporters and human rights defenders, put them into their cars and brought to the Allakhverdievs' house.

After the funeral, Imanov, Deputy Military Prosecutor, told reporters that after the death of the soldier, both the internal and external examination was conducted; and a video was made. He added that "all the required investigatory actions are undertaken; and all the reasons of the soldier's death are examined."
