Action against non-combat losses initiated in Baku

In Azerbaijan, a group in the Facebook "Stop soldiers' deaths!" is inviting people to a protest action associated with the death of Private Seimur Allakhverdiev.

On January 12, the above group already held a similar action, after on January 7 the Private Djeikhun Gubadov died. Under the official version, he died from heart insufficiency; however, the photos of the casualty's body show traces of violence.

The pretext for the new action was the death on February 28 of Private Seimur Allakhverdiev. According to the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, he committed suicide when taking his guarding post; however, his relatives assert that he died a violent death. They state that the soldier's body has traces of violence.

The appeal of the group "Stop soldiers' deaths!" reads: "We had hoped that measures would be taken against lawlessness in the army. However, another tragedy happened. Within two months there were 14 soldiers' deaths. None of them died at warfare. Now, they want to silence these cases".

"We should say 'Stop!' to this lawlessness! Our relatives and friends take their army service; and they are under threat. The lawlessness should be stopped. This is the issue of consciousness, honour and dignity! Therefore, let's not keep silent about the deaths of innocent young people in the army!" the activists keep stating.
