Ingushetia: refugees from Chechnya fear TAC closure
Forced resettlers from the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) named "Promzhilbaza" and located in the city of Karabulak received information about the upcoming removal of their camp scheduled for March 1.
As reported by a woman from the TAC, who preferred to remain anonymous, the refugees were again told that their centre would be closed. "It happens every year; people come to us, tell that the camp would be closed and ask to go away. But where should we go, if we have no housing?! Let the authorities first give us some facilities to live in and then liquidate the TAC," she said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The administration of Karabulak denies this information. "There are plans to demolish the TAC; however, we can't say anything about the date," said the spokesman of the administration.
The forced migrants from Chechnya who live in "Promzhilbaza" since 1999 have held multiple protest actions demanding to address their housing problems.
