ICRF: illegally bought flat of former Kabardino-Balkaria's Premier arrested

The unlawfully acquired apartment of Ivan Gerter, the former head of Kabardino-Balkarian Government, who is suspected of fraud, was arrested. This was reported by the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Let us remind you that Ivan Gerter was unlawfully put on the list of the persons in need of improvement of their living conditions, and then he received a four-room apartment in the town of Prokhladny as service housing. In May 2010, the apartment was unlawfully registered to be his property. In March 2011, Ivan Gerter sold the apartment for 2.5 million roubles. On this November 12, a criminal case was instituted against Ivan Gerter under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud".

According to investigators, the actions of the former head of Kabardino-Balkarian Government violated the rights and legitimate interests of two liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster, who since 2001 were in the queue for housing in the district administration, and the Prokhladny District got loss in the amount of 2.5 million roubles.

"In accordance with Article 115 of the Russian Criminal Procedure Code, to provide compensation for the loss inflicted, the investigators thought it necessary to impose arrest on the above property," stated a representative of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF in Kabardino-Balkaria. The Nalchik City Court granted that motion of the investigators.
