A convoy perished in a scuffle among convicts in one of the clinics of Tbilisi

Convoy Djambul Khosharauli aged 48 perished during a scuffle among convicts in the Clinic named after Gudushauri in Tbilisi. The participants of the scuffle will be punished, Minister of Execution of punishments, probation and legal aid of Georgia Sozar Subari declared.

The scuffle in the Clinic named after Gudushauri took place at night of November, 23. During the scuffle one of the guards felt unwell and the physicians failed to save his life. According to preliminary data, his death was caused by a heart attack.

Eyewitnesses stated that the convicts attempted to destroy the neurosurgical unit of the clinic and beat up the doctors.

Marina Grelantia, Deputy Director General of the Clinic, told the journalists that three convicts were brought to the Clinic the day before and were guarded by 10 convoys.

The convicts have already been moved back to the penal facility, "Prime-News" reports.

The term of custody to seven convicts who participated in the scuffle will be increased, Sozar Subari said commenting on the incident on November, 23,

The Minister emphasized that the regime for convicts in all the prisons of Georgia would henceforth become more strict, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.

"After the videos of torture on the convicts became public until forming the new Government strictness of the prison regime reduced, however we will reestablish the respective regime. It will be very strict but fair at the same time. It will not be based upon humiliation of the convicts or threats to their lives", "Georgia Online" quotes Subari.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the guard's death, investigation is in process.
