Askarby Kardanov elected Mufti of Adygea and Krasnodar Territory

Today, during the Congress of Muslims of the Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory, Askarby Kardanov was elected new Mufti of two regions.

During the Congress, 125 delegates voted for candidate Askarby Kardanov, Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Maikop.

44 delegates voted for Nurbiy Emizh, current Mufti of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory. This was reported from the Congress room by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The rest delegates abstained.

The Council of the SAM of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory approved four candidates for the position of Mufti. Their number included current Mufti Nurbiy Emizh, Ibragim Shkhalakhov, Imam of Cathedral-Mosque of Maikop, Askarby Kardanov, Mufti of the SAM of Maikop, and Magomed Khasani, Imam of the mosque of the village of Mafekhabl of Kosovo. Later, Khasani and Shkhalakhov withdrew. Thus, the Congress elected from two candidates.
