Series of solo pickets in support of Syrian Circassians held in Moscow

Today, in Moscow, a series of solo pickets was held within the worldwide action of solidarity with Syrian Circassians. One after another, participants in the action came to the building of the presidential administration and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

On November 24-25, the worldwide action of solidarity with Syrian Circassians is being held, and it is planned to hold a series of events in support of Circassians. The Moscow Mayoralty received an application to hold a rally of 300 persons on November 24; however, the application was dismissed.

The today's series of solo pickets in Moscow began at 11:00 a.m. and ended by 03:00 p.m.

"One person came to hold a picket in front of the MFA's building in Smolensk Square, and one person in front of the Russian presidential administration in Old Square. After one hour, picketers were changed by other persons. The matter is that under the Law on mass events, no approval from the authorities is required to hold solo pickets. A lot of people wanted to take part in that action, and we found a way that it would be not hard for participants to stand in the cold for a long time and that as many people as possible could take part in the action," said one of the organizers of the action told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"It is only a little thing that citizens of Russia can do to support their compatriots. Pickets are intended to inform more people about the problem, who pass by, read the poster and stop, asking about the problem. Of course, not all passers-by, yet, some of them stop," stated Zalim Tkhagalekov, a participant of the action.

In Smolensk Square, in front of the Russian MFA's building, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent met Azamat, one more participant of the action. He held a poster reading: "Establish green corridor for our compatriots in Syria!"

Alina Zakharova, a young woman, passing by, has noted that was not the first time when she noticed the participants of the action.

"I live nearby and I see people standing with posters for the third time already. What a shame that in our country, political actions gather a huge crowd of 10,000-15,000 persons; however, people do not care about the problems of ordinary people. Trouble comes unexpectedly, and no one has immunity from it. Unfortunately, in our country, authorities has always been and remain inaccessible," the young woman said.

According to the participants of the action, they do not demand that Russia should make policy decisions and they only demand to help people to return to their homeland.
