Karachay-Cherkessia: four policemen accused of torturing detainee

In Karachay-Cherkessia, four policemen face trial for abuse of power: they are accused of torturing a detainee to knock out a confession. This was reported by the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in Karachay-Cherkessia.

According to investigators, on March 7, Magomed Dudov, the head of the Operational Search Section of the Criminal Investigation Office of the Inter-Municipal Division of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) "Karachay", and investigator Nyurchyuk Kasaev brought to the police station a local resident Uzdenov and unlawfully placed him in a ward.

To obtain confession of involvement in theft of horses, Magomed Dudov, Nyurchyuk Kasaev and policemen Rasul Kochkarov and Arsen Teunaev tortured Uzdenov with electric current, the "Yuga.ru" reports with reference to the press service of the ICRF in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The policemen also beat the detainee. A forensic examination revealed that Uzdenov got multiple injuries of soft tissues of his head and body.

The defendants do not admit their guilt, the "Vesti. Kavkaz" reports.

The investigation into the case has been completed, and the case materials brought to the court for consideration on merits.
