Employees of Georgian energy distribution company “Telasi” stopped hunger strike
In the evening of November, 20, discharged and working employees of Tbilisi company “Telasi” stopped their hunger strike. The strike they declared is still going on.
On November, 14, three employees of “Telasi” went on a hunger strike as a sign of protest against the management who did not fulfill their promise to reestablish 125 employees discharged this summer. Later four more persons joined the strikers. On November, 20, the power engineers of the company went on a strike with the participation of the whole staff, except emergency brigades and specialists responsible for power supply of the city.
The power engineers decided to stop the hunger strike after their meeting with the Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze. During the meeting the Minister promised to create a work group to study the question of discharged employees of “Telasi”.
The first session of the work group with the participation of representatives of Trade Unions will be held on November, 21, “Georgia Online” referring to Chairman of United Trade Unions Irakli Petriashvili reports.
In spite of this, the power engineers declared that they were not going to stop the strike. The action of protest near “Telasi” head office will be recommenced in the morning of November, 21, “Echo of the Caucasus” reports.
