Dagestani Prosecutor's Office reveals over 70 school teachers with fake diplomas

During the check conducted in Dagestani schools, prosecutors revealed 74 teachers who worked on fake diplomas. The check goes on, said a source from the Prosecutor's Office.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nabi Salikhov, the deputy head of the Department of the Prosecutor's Office for Supervision over Federal Legislation, that the Nogai Prosecutor's Office was the first to make a check; they revealed 10 "fake" school teachers.

The experiment was found useful; and in April 2012 all territorial prosecutors received letters prescribing to check all the general educational institutions for the presence of teachers with false documents. First, prosecutors asked for lists of teachers with higher education who work in schools, and then sent requests to universities asking whether they had really studied there.

As of November 1, 74 faked diplomas were revealed. The check resulted in ten criminal cases; five of them have been sent to the court already.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gasbulla Ibakov, the head of the education department of the Akushin District, that he learnt about the results of the check from the Internet.

"Almost all of these teachers had secondary special education – they graduated from teachers' training schools and colleges; and then bought fake university diplomas. The presentation of the Prosecutor's Office says that they need to be fired, and then employed again, but on the basis of their real diplomas," said Mr Ibakov.
