ICRF: attacks on power agents in Ingushetia doubled against 2011

As stated by Ibragim Mogushkov, the head of the Ingush Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), during ten months of this year the number of attempts on power agents in Ingushetia has double as compared with 2011. This figure matches the statistics of the "Caucasian Knot" gathered during ten months of this year and in 2011.

"The analysis of the crime in the republic for 10 months of 2012 reveals an increasing activeness of the members of the bandit underground," Mr Mogushkov said at a briefing in Magas on November 15.

The ICRF official said that since the start of this year 48 attacks on the life of law enforcers and military personnel had been undertaken in the republic, while in the same period of 2011, 32 such crimes were registered.

"In these crimes committed in 2012, 92 persons suffered, including 84 law enforcers, of whom 18 died," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Mogushkov as saying.

According to his story, in the same period of 2011, 33 persons suffered, including 31 law enforcers (of whom 12 died).

He added that eight civilians suffered, one of whom died, while last year one civilian died and another one was wounded, the "Interfax" reports.

"Criminal cases have been opened on all the above incidents under Article 317 (attempt on the life of a law enforcer) of the Russia's Criminal Code, in which there are essential results," said the ICRF official.

The data of the ICRF fits the trends in the statistics of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources, which include the previously published data of power bodies. Thus, according to the edition, in the period from January 1 to October 31, 2012, Ingushetia had 117 victims, including 87 power agents and 30 civilians. During this period 29 power agents and 10 civilians were killed; and 58 power agents and 20 civilians were wounded.
