Residents of Nalchik did not have time to read leaflets about the loss of Cherkessians in Syria

At night of November, 11, leaflets calling for people not to remain indifferent in the situation when the Cherkessians perish in Syria appeared in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria. However, the residents of Nalchik did not have time to see the leaflets because they were torn down.

One of the leaflets with the text “The Cherkessians perish in Syria, do not remain indifferent!” was pasted at the entrance of the International Cherkessian organization in Nalchik, two more were placed on the walls of the buildings in other districts of the town.

On November, 9, Khauti Sokhrokov, President of International Cherkessian Association (ICA), appealed to Speaker of the Council of Federation of Russia Valentina Matvienko asking for aid in immediate evacuation of the Cherkassians of Syria to their motherland, Press Service of the Association informed. The Cherkassians in Syria are an ethnic minority and none of the conflicting parties observes their interests, Sokhrokov declared.

“Armed gunmen threaten them with reprisal and the bodies of authority of Syria are unable to secure their safety”, a message of ICA runs.

About 500 repatriates have returned from Syria to Kabardino-Balkaria as of today.
