Former head of Kabardino-Balkarian Government suspected of large-scale fraud

The Division for Especially Serious Cases Investigation of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in Kabardino-Balkaria instituted a criminal case under Article "Fraud committed on a large scale" against Ivan Gerter, the former head of the Government of Kabardino-Balkaria.

According to investigators, in 2009, Ivan Gerter, being at that time the head of the administration of the Prokhladny District of Kabardino-Balkaria, was unlawfully recognized in need to improve his living conditions, and he received a four-room apartment as an service housing.

In May 2010, the apartment was privatized by Ivan Gerter. However, he did not file any application for the acquisition of the housing or any confirmation that he had not earlier used his right for privatization.

After privatization of the apartment in August 2010, in next March, Ivan Gerter sold it for 2.5 million roubles to a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria. This was reported by the website of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Till present, no comments from Ivan Gerter himself on the announced information are available.
