Armenia starts building Megri HPP

Today, near the city of Megri in Armenia, a ceremony of laying the foundation for the construction of the Megri Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) for the capacity of 130 MW and annual electricity yield of about 800 million kWh took place.

In accordance with the agreement, concluded by the governments of Armenia and Iran, the Megri HPP, built on the Arax River on the Armenian-Iranian border, will be finished in five years.

Today, the construction works, including preparation of site and delivery of the necessary equipment, were started.

The Ministers of Energy of Armenia and Iran signed the document on the beginning of the construction of the HPP and then put the document in the foundation of a new HPP.
