Road builders in Kobuleti resume strike

Builders of bypass road in Kobuleti (Georgia) again held a protest action. They claim that the employer has violated an agreement, reached several days ago.

Let us remind you that on October 22, about 300 builders of the bypass road around Kobuleti, the Adzharian resort, held a protest action, demanding higher wages. After the negotiations, the Chinese Company "Sino Gidro" agreed to increase wages of the workers by 30 percent.

However, the Company has recorded in new contracts that the workers will not receive service transportation, and, besides, more than 200 employees were dismissed, the "Georgia Online" reports.

According to Ilya Verdzadze, Chairman of the Association of Trade Unions of Adzharia, the dismissals violate the agreement. At present, the Company recruits new employees.

Anzor Tkhilaishvili, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adzharia on Agricultural Issues and Issues of Self-Administration, have already met the dismissed workers. During his dialogue with representatives of the Company "Sino Gidro", he had received certain assurances, the "Trend" reports. No details of the meeting and agreement reached are reported.
