The budget of Georgia returned to Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili 48 million US dollars, which were paid by him as a penalty in this July. This was reported today by David Narmaniya, Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Bidzina Ivanishvili was fined for the use of his business assets for his pre-election campaign. On July 25, Bidzina Ivanishvili fully paid the fine, imposed on him in the amount of 74.3 million laris (about 45.6 million US dollars) and the sum of the execution of 5.2 million laris (about 3.2 million US dollars).

Bidzina Ivanishvili has agreed to pay the fine because of the need to provide assistance to residents of the eastern regions of Georgia, affected by the disaster.

"The funds, transferred by Bidzina Ivanishvili to the state budget, were not directed to assistance of the victims of the disaster," the RIA "Novosti" quotes David Narmaniya as saying.

The funds of Bidzina Ivanishvili were at the account of the National Bureau for Execution and returned to Bidzina Ivanishvili as the unlawfully paid fine, the "GHN" reports.
