Seven prisoners hold on hunger strike in Kutaisi prison
As reported on November 3 by Ia Bobokhidze, the editor-in-chief of the "Akhali Gazeti", and Manana Managadze, an activist from the centre for defending civil interests "Argus", seven inmates were holding hunger strike for five days at the Kutaisi prison.
According to their story, they visited the prisoners at the request of inmates' relatives and their lawyers.
The hunger-strikers, two of them are HIV-infected, demand – in view of their severe health conditions – to change their custody regime and improve health care, the "Georgia Online" reports.
"Besides, the inmates have claims to a number of prison officers, who, according to their version, were seen in ill-treating the inmates," the "Echo of the Caucasus" quotes Ms Bobokhidze as saying.
