Azerbaijan: four defendants on case of Guba riots refuse to plead guilty

Today, at the court session of the Guba District Court on the case against seven defendants, accused of the riots on March 1 in the city of Guba, prosecutor read out the indictment. Four defendants completely denied their guilt. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by lawyer Asabali Mustafaev.

On October 3, the trial against seven defendants was started. Four of them Akif Aliev, Gabil Aliev, Safar Garibov, and Zimistan Amiraslanov are under arrest, and three more defendants Tlman Dadashev, Samir Abdullaev, and Mamedgasan Akbarov have signed recognizance not to leave.

"Four defendants, including my client Akif Aliev, completely denied the charges. Three other defendants pleaded partially guilty and only of minor offences, for example, of throwing stones to the windows of the house of Rauf Gabibov, the former head of the district," Asabali Mustafaev said.

Representatives of the Guba District Court do not comment on the trial.
