In July-September, 204 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Dagestan

In the Republic of Dagestan, in July, August, and September 2012, at least 204 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 147 persons were killed and 57 were wounded. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials of the edition and information from open sources.

The death toll includes 27 civilians, 40 power agents, and 80 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

The number of the wounded persons includes 14 civilians, 40 power agents, and 3 suspected militants.

Meanwhile, in July, in Dagestan, 69 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 54 persons were killed and 15 were wounded. In August, 103 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 70 persons were killed and 33 were wounded. In September, 32 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 23 persons were killed and 9 were wounded.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data get into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

In the first quarter of 2012, according to the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", in Dagestan, at least 116 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 83 persons were killed and at least 33 were wounded. In the second quarter of 2012, at least 237 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 102 persons were killed and 135 were wounded.

In 2011, Dagestan held the lead by the number of victims of the war in Northern Caucasus, where the total number of victims of the armed confrontation between law enforcement agents and militants reached at least 824 persons. Of these, 413 persons were killed and 411 were wounded. In 2010, in the Republic of Dagestan, the total number of victims of the armed conflict reached 685 persons. Of these, 378 persons were killed and 307 were wounded.
