Gurov, ex-figurant of Kuschevskaya massacre case appeals against sentence

Evgeny Gurov, who was sentenced in the Krasnodar Territory to 12 years of imprisonment and who had been initially detained on the massacre case in Kuschevskaya, but then charged with other offences, has appealed against the verdict, said the spokeswoman for the office of the Kuschevskaya District Court.

On November 5, 2010, in the village of Kuschevskaya, 12 persons, including four children, were killed. Within the investigation, Evgeny Gurov, his brother Alexei and Vyacheslav Skachedub were detained among the first. However, seven months later it became known that the criminal prosecution of Gurov was stopped, because of absence of corpus delicti in his actions. Nevertheless, Gurov was charged under in three other articles of the Criminal Code; and on July 13 the Kuschevskaya District Court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

According to the court, Gurov will serve his term at the minimum security colony; he was also fined by 100,000 roubles.

According to the Office of the Kuschevskaya District Court, Gurov's appeal against the sentence will be considered by the Krasnodar Territorial Court, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of Gurov or his representatives.
