The court in Sochi dismissed an appeal from Brovkina, organizer of a series of pickets

On July, 25, Central district court of Sochi validated the judgment of the magistrate's court of calling Irina Brovkina to administrative account for holding a meeting. In this way, the activist’s appeal against the verdict of the magistrate's court was dismissed.

Brovkina organized a series of pickets with the demand of resignation of Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov, Governor of Kuban Alexander Tkachev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin. She was detained on May, 28. The magistrate's court passed a judgment of the woman’s arrest for three days for insubordination to legal demands of the police. Besides, she was fined for holding an unauthorized meeting. Brovkina appealed against the verdict of the magistrate's court.

“The verdict of the magistrate's court is one of a contract origin. It was fabricated to please Head of the city in order to stop the public action with the demand of his resignation. I did not organize any meeting, I held a single-person picket”, Irina Brovkina declared at the trial.

While producing evidence on the case Irina Brovkina asked the court to see a video and estimate her arguments. However, the court dismissed the motion without explanation.

“Brovkina’s guilt is completely proven by reports of three policemen who did not come to the trial and evidence of three witnesses who did not come, either”, judge Nicolay Vashenko said.

The judgment will be appealed against in the European Court of Human Rights, Irina Brovkina declared after pronouncement of the verdict.
