Georgia demands to change personal data of Russian Olympic wrestlers

Today, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Georgia has expressed protest to organizers of the Olympic Games in London, because in the data on two athletes of the Russian national team, posted on the official website of Olympic Games, Abkhazia and South Ossetia are indicated as the territory of Russia.

The statement released by the Georgian NOC says that the website of the Olympic Games in London, where athletes' personal data are posted, indicates that the birthplace of the wrestler Besik Kudukhov, a member of the Russian national team, is given as "South Ossetia"; and the one of the other Russian wrestler – Dennis Tsargush – as the Abkhazian city of Gudauta.

According to the NOC, the words of South Ossetia and Gudauta are accompanied by the note "Russia" (RUS), given in parentheses, the "Interfax" reports.

The NOC of Georgia demands from the Organizing Committee of "London-2012" to correct the data and indicate Georgia as the birthplace of the athletes, the "News-Georgia" quotes the statement.

The "RIA Novosti" reports, with reference to Mikhail Mamiashvili, Olympic Champion and President of the Wrestling Federation of Russia, that nobody will hamper the performance of Besik Kudukhov and Denis Tsargush at the Olympic Games in London.
