Sochi: CJSC "PRiSS" plans to install noise-protection screens around Olympic construction

With the aim to reduce noise during construction of a sewer, conducted in Sochi by the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "PRiSS", noise-protection screens will be installed, Vladimir Vasilenko, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Company said on July 20 during a meeting with Sochi residents.

The residents of two apartment blocks located in Yunykh Lelintsev and Konstitutsii Streets, who were present at the meeting, complained about violation of their right to a healthy environment, stating that the construction company, engaged in erection of Olympic facility, behaves quite noisy right under their windows after 11:00 p.m.

Apart from residents, the meeting was attended by officials of the CJSC "PRiSS", local "Rospotrebnadzor", and city and territory administration. According to Mr Vasilenko, the drilling installation used in construction is designed in such manner that it cannot be stopped – it should work day-and-night. Residents responded that they and their children should sleep at night.

A specialist – Renat Aminov from "Rospotrebnadzor" – asserts that the results of measurements made in the apartment of Nadezhda Makarova, a resident of No. 38 on in Konstitutsii Street, showed an excess of the norm by 30 times.

"Such a violation entails a fine of 20,000 roubles," said Marina Zvyagintseva, Deputy Director of the Construction Department of the Sochi Administration.

Vladimir Vasilenko promised to set up noise-protection screens around the site before July 26. "People can't sleep at night," he said, "but the reason of all that is the Olympic deadline, by which we, builders, must cope with the impossible."
