CEC of Nagorno-Karabakh: 66,70% electors voted for Bako Saakyan at the presidential election
Central Election Committee (CEC) of Nagorno-Karabakh reports preliminary results of voting at the presidential election on July, 19, according to which as of 8:00, 66,70%, or 47 085 electors voted for the incumbent president Bako Saakyan.
32,50% electors voted for Vitaly Balasanyan and 0,80% for Arkady Sogomonyn. This data is published at the official web-site of CEC of NKR.
There were three candidates for presidency of Nagorno-Karabakh: incumbent president Bako Saakyan, Deputy of National Assembly, ex-Minister of Defense Vitaly Balasanyan and Vice-chancellor of Stepanakert subsidiary of State Agricultural University of Armenia for scientific and educational work Arkady Sogomonyn.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that presidential election was held in Nagorno-Karabakh on July, 19. The polling stations closed at 20:00. As of 20:00, 72 833 people or 73,38% of the total number of electors voted.
There were no statements of violations from international observers who late in the evening of July, 19, started arriving in the Press Center of CEC and on the voting day visited the polling stations in the districts of the republic.
It should be pointed out that Azerbaijan considers the election in Nagorno-Karabakh illegitimate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey also condemned the election in Nagorno-Karabakh. NATO and the European Union did not recognize the election in Nagorno-Karabakh, either.
