Bodies of dead Alpinists from Ukraine found in Georgia

The rescuers of emergency situations service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia retrieved dead bodies of Ukrainian Alpinists who perished on July, 17, while descending from Ushba mountain.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on July, 17, breakage of cable happened at the moment of descent of a group of Ukrainian Alpinists consisting of four persons from Ushba mountain at the altitude of 3600 meters as a result of which Dmitry Voloshin and Alexander Tarenin perished.

Before noon of July, 19, the rescuers led out two Ukrainian Alpinists who survived from the dangerous area and continued search of lost members of the group, officials of Department of emergency situations service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The rescuers are currently laying a wooden path one kilometer long from the place of the Alpinists' fall to one of the plateaus in the neighbourhood of Ushba mountain.

"The rescuers and employees of local Administration are laying the path in order to draw down Dmitry Voloshin and Alexander Tarenin's bodies. After the bodies are delivered to the Alpinists' camp they will be transported by helicopter to Mestia (Upper Svanetia)", emergency situations service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia reported.

It should be mentioned that Ushba was called a "murderer mountain" because of a great number of fatal accidents that happened there. According to the statistics of Russian Alpinists' club, 46 Alpinists perished in Ushba since 1970. At present 6 routs lead to Usba, their complexity categories vary from 4A ("complex") to 6A ("extremely complex").
