In Chechnya, principals of general education schools to face trial
Principals of two schools of the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya are to face trial on charges of embezzling funds from using their official positions. They face 2-6 years of imprisonment.
"The former principals of the secondary schools No. 1 and No. 4 of the village of Samashki of the Achkhoi-Martan District of the republic will face trial on charges of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 160 (embezzlement or misappropriation) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," said a representative of the law enforcement agencies of Chechnya.
According to the source, "the both principals were detained in this May by officers from the Division to Combat Economic Crimes of the OVD (Interior Division) of the Achkhoi-Martan District on suspicion of embezzling funds from using their official positions."
According to investigators, in December 2010, the principals of the schools No. 1 and No. 4 of the village of Samashki issued the orders to give cash bonuses to the executives of the educational institutions, led by them. "At that time, the women included themselves in the list of the persons to be given bonuses, and that is expressly prohibited by the law. Meanwhile, the principal of the school No. 1 embezzled unlawfully about 12.500 roubles, and the second principal embezzled unlawfully more than 13,000 roubles. The investigation into those facts has been completed, and the cases brought to court for consideration on the merits," stated the source of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to the source, for the misappropriation of funds, the former principals face up to 6 years of imprisonment. Till present, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the defendants or their representatives concerning the crimes, allegedly committed by the principals.
