Satellite press conferences Yerevan-Baku

On February 6 and 10, two more satellite press conferences Yerevan-Baku were held within the framework of the project of the Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs "Possible Resolutions of the Karabakh Conflict: Expert Evaluations and Media Coverage". The project is implemented with the support of the Network Media Program of the Open Society Institute. Technical assistance in the conduction of the TV bridges was provided by Mir Interstate TV and Radio Company and Internews.

On February 6, the questions of Armenian journalists were answered by the President of the Azerbaijan Center for Economic and Political Studies and Entrepreneurship Development Foundation, Sabit Bagirov. The Armenian media representatives were mostly interested in the prospects of the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeikhan oil pipeline, influence of the Karabakh problem on the economy of the conflict parties, possibilities of regional cooperation, refugees' state, and human rights situation in Azerbaijan.

On February 10, the Yerevan studio hosted Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Ruben Shugarian. Questions of the Azerbaijan journalists, who were in the Baku studio, mostly referred to the Karabakh conflict, in particular, to the position of official Yerevan on the issue and its possible resolutions: whether Armenia has new approaches to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict; whether the mediating mission of the OSCE Minsk Group has exhausted itself; if there is a potential for the peaceful settlement; what the attitude of Armenia is to the role of the European Union, NATO and other international structures in this process, etc. Issues of regional security and cooperation with other states having interest in the South Caucasus - the USA, Russia, Iran, and Turkey - were touched on too.
