In Vladikavkaz, relatives of murdered resident of Ardon District picket Supreme Court
Today, relatives of Viktor Khadaev, the murdered resident of the Ardon District of North Ossetia, came with posters to the building of the Supreme Court in Vladikavkaz. They demand to make a fair decision against defendant Zelim Karaev.
On July 24, 2010, Viktor Khadaev disappeared, and 11 months later, his body was found on the outskirts of the village of Kadgaron. The man was engaged in private business, and he had a license to collect and recycle ferrous metals.
Zelim Karaev was detained on suspicion of murder. According to investigators, on the day of his disappearance, Viktor Khadaev stepped in the car to Zelim Karaev and his friend Zaza Kozaev.
According to the indictment, their conversation turned into a quarrel, during which Zelim Karaev started attacking Viktor Khadaev. According to the investigators, Viktor Khadaev died as a result of beating, and the defendant Zelim Karaev searched his clothes and stole 30,000 roubles from the murdered man.
The trial was held behind closed doors. "The court had examined and revealed evidence at the court hearing and concluded that the charges of murder, that was, intentional causing death of a person, filed against Zelim Karaev, were not confirmed," the verdict of the court states.
The court found Zelim Karaev guilty of stealing 30,000 roubles and sentenced him to 2 years of conditional sentence with 2 years of probation and released him in the courtroom.
The relatives of Viktor Khadaev, who took part in today's protest action, are not satisfied with the decision of the court. "We ask for justice, and we ask that the Supreme Court reconsidered the case and pronounced a just verdict," the participants of the protest action stated.
