Karachay-Cherkessia holds action "Give Me Life!"
On July 13, the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) hosted an action "Give Me Life!" aimed at strengthening the family and preservation of family values and traditions. The action tried to draw attention to the issue of abortion.
"We wanted to draw attention to maternity and paternity – the values that every family should enjoy," said Irina Gerbekova, Minister of Public Health and Resorts of the KChR.
The action "Give Me Life!" is aimed at improving the demographic situation in the country, Evgenia Ponomaryova, Chief Physician of the Perinatal Centre, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The KChR has no acute problem of abortion, due to national peculiarities, the culture and education. Nevertheless, we take part in this all-Russian campaign, because we want more children to appear in this world and their mothers to be healthy," Ms Ponomaryova said.
The Republic's Perinatal Centre has a division of medical and social support, where women are helped to make the right decision in difficult situations.
"I believe that the notion of abortion, regardless of the period, is a killing of a started life. I fully support this action and take pleasure of it. We've come here with my daughter, who, as you can see, it also an active participant," Larisa G., a young mother, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
