Volunteers: Krymsk needs hygiene products, rubber boots, candles and food

The city of Krymsk of the Krasnodar Territory, affected by the flooding, needs, first of all, personal care articles, household chemicals and cleaning devices. Besides, the city is short of medical workers and psychologists. This was reported by volunteers.

"At present, most common request is to help remove furniture"

The region receives humanitarian aid from the entire country and from foreign countries, and residents began to receive assistance from the authorities.

At present, Krymsk needs, above all, hygiene products, insect killers against mosquitoes, and bedding. This was told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Miroslav Valkovich, one of the organizers of gathering of humanitarian aid and coordinators of volunteer from Krasnodar.

"We need disinfectants for cleaning apartments, gloves and rubber boots, candles or lanterns, and medicines validol and the similar medicines for old ladies, and powder," stated ecologist Suren Gazaryan, who works in Krymsk as a volunteer starting from July 7. He has also noted that people in Krymsk almost do not feel lack of clothes, but still feel lack of food products.

"At present, the most common request is to help remove furniture," says Suren Gazaryan. "Therefore, volunteers need to have gloves and shoes with hard soles, since nails are everywhere."

"Till present, many city residents are still in shock. People have lost everything. Many of the m lost their relatives. There a lot of children and pregnant women who are under stress. However, for some reason, psychologists do not work in the city," emphasizes Irina, a resident of Novorossiyskaya Streets. She continues: "The situation with health care in the city is also bad. It seems to exist; however, till present, there is no access to some houses."

Doctors fear outbreaks of infectious diseases

"Over the last night, the number of people, who applied to the hospital, dramatically increased. 35 persons were hospitalized, including 7 children. People complain of abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, and fever heat. There are no patients in serious condition among them. 2 persons have been already diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Other diagnoses will be confirmed after treatment of test results. Almost all of the sick persons used unboiled water. We once again urge to be more attentive to your health. In our case, it is better not to drink water at all than to drink crude water," the "8th Channel" quotes a physician from the Krymsk Central Republic's Hospital as saying.

"After such a devastation, after such a destabilization of people's lives, when they lost everything, when there are no normal living conditions, when there are no possibilities to perform a scope of physiological functions, to wash in due time, to take a shower, when household infrastructure is completely destroyed we should expect, as a consequence, rise of incidence rate, primarily, of course, rise of intestinal infections," stated Gennady Onischenko, Chief Sanitary Inspector of the Russian Federation, as the today's press conference in Moscow.

"There is no epidemic, no reason to start panic"

"There is no epidemic, and there is no reason to start panic. Discussions on this issue are groundless," stated Sergey Kolnichenko, the deputy of the Krymsk District from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot".

According to him, a complex of preventive measures is being carried out in the city. In particular, people are given medicines and bleaching powder, used for whitening and disinfecting.

The "Rosprirodnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Supervising the Nature) also do not confirm the presence of infections. According to the Federal Agency, the epidemiological situation is stable, and the incidence of infectious diseases corresponds to longstanding level typical for that time of the year.

According to the "Rosprirodnadzor", disinfection was carried out in households with total area of 212,400 square meters, and 313 cesspools and 162 water wells were disinfected.

According to Vladimir Andreev, the coordinator of rendering assistance to the victims in Krymsk, at present, people are being vaccinated.

"So far, we observe no epidemic deterioration of people's health. Some people got cough; however, it is most likely caused by the fact that they were in water. Perhaps, the epidemic is just beginning, since bodies just started to rot," Vladimir Andreev stated.
