Stavropol: children evacuated from school camp after land mine detection
On July 3, anti-personnel landmine of World War II was discovered in the territory of a school in Stavropol, where summer school camp located. This was reported by a representative of the Unified Dispatching Service of Civil Defence and Emergencies of the city administration.
The landmine was found in the territory of the school No. 39, located in south-western district of the city. During summer vacations, this place hosts a school camp, and 44 children are vacationing there.
Dangerous finding was discovered in a flowerbed in the school territory by an employee, who reported to the emergency services. Children, who were at the school summer camp, were immediately evacuated. Combat engineers arrived in the place; they examined the landmine, took it away and destroyed it, the "Interfax-Yug" reports.
Law enforcement agencies do not rule out that the landmine came to the flower bed with the ground, which was brought by builders, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
