Rostov Region: three officials suspected of embezzling poor children's money
Three officials of the Zelenograd district administration of the Rostov Region became figurants of the case of embezzlement of half of the money, allocated by the regional budget for the schoolchildren's summer holidays.
"The inspection revealed that the head of the division of social protection of population of the Zelenograd district administration and two of his subordinates provided vouchers to sanatoria, paid from the regional budget, to 13 children from poor families instead of 25," reported today the press service of the Chief Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the Rostov Region.
According to investigators, officials made forged documents for the other 12 teenagers and embezzled money for summer holidays of those schoolchildren totalling to the amount of 160,000 roubles, the "Interfax" reports.
According to Vitaly Levchenko, Deputy Police Chief for operative work of the Division of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the Zelenograd District, parents of children, who supposedly had summer vacations in sanatorium, did not even suspect that they had a real opportunity for free vacations.
The criminal case was instituted under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power), the website of the Chief Department of the MIA in the Rostov Region.
