A former gunman and a woman accomplice turned themselves in in Chechnya

A resident of Alkhan-Kala came to the police of his own accord and reported his participation in armed underground. A woman resident of Achkhoy-Martan district of Chechnya also confessed to having rendered aid to participants of paramilitary groups, a representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the republic reported.

"A twenty-four-years-old resident of the settlement of Alkhan-Kala came as self-reported criminal to the Department of Interior Affairs of Grozny district. He said that during the period from August till the middle of September, 2009, he was a member of one of the gangsters' groups in Shali district of the republic. The former gunman states that he did not take part in subversive and terrorist actions and during his stay in the territory of the gunmen's camp was engaged in agricultural works", an officer of Chechen police said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to our interlocutor, the gunman who surrendered to the police is on his own recognizance. A respective inspection started concerning him.

The representative of the police also said that on June, 26, a woman aged 41, resident of the settlement of Bamut, Achkhoy-Martan district, came as self-reported criminal the Department of Interior Affairs of Sunzha district.

"The woman said that from this January until recently she was an accomplice of one of the gangsters' groups acting in the territory of the republic and delivered food to its members", a representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Chechnya said.

The respective inspection is in process and the question of starting criminal proceedings for participation in paramilitary groups against her is under consideration, our interlocutor added.

It should be reminded that on June, 30, a local resident came to the Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia in Grozny district who according to the personnel of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, was member of Gakaev's group during the period from August till September, 2009.

On June, 24, a nineteen-years-old girl resident of the settlement of Assinovskaya came to Sunzha district Department of Interior Affairs. She stated that from last September until recently she was involved in one of the gangsters' groups acting near the administrative border between Chechnya and Ingushetia.
