Advocate of KBR bureaucrat arrested in Moscow complains about his client's custody conditions
The defence of Vladimir Zhamborov, an official from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), accused of unlawful privatization of the Philharmonic Hall in Nalchik, seeks to change his pre-trial restriction measure in connection with the state of his health. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ruslan Koblev, the defendant's lawyer.
On the day of pronouncement of indictment, the defence presented to the investigators the documents, proving that Vladimir Zhamborov was diagnosed with serious heart disease. According to the lawyer, his client suffers from occlusion of coronary vessels, and, yet prior to the arrest, he was recommended to undergo immediate surgery on his heart. On June 20, upon his arrival in the "Matrosskaya Tishina" (Sailor's Silence) SIZO (pre-trial prison), Vladimir Zhamborov was hospitalized.
Vladimir Zhamborov is still kept at the hospital of the "Matrosskaya Tishina" SIZO No. 1. "The investigators state that the SIZO hospital has all the necessary medical equipment, and we have information that they even do not have a cardiologist, not to mention the fact that Vladimir Zhamborov should undergo coronary arteriography," Ruslan Koblev stated.
According to the lawyer, the defence has filed a complaint about conditions of detention of the defendant at the medical facility. A separate complaint was filed against actions of the Investigatory Department, and then, the defence received a reply that a medical examination would be assigned. Besides, the defence applied directly to the medical facility; however, till present, no response from the hospital has been received.
"While the issue on appeal is being considered, we appeal to the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) to urge them, at least, to bring the defendant to civilian doctors. We agree on any pre-trial restriction measure bail, recognizance not to leave not related to custody," said the representative of the official's defence.
