Azerbaijan sets up group of scientists to develop common alphabet of Turkic-speaking countries

The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking States (TurkPA) intends to develop a united alphabet for Turkic-speaking countries. Azerbaijan has set up a special group of scientists to this end.

On June 22, Ramil Gasanov, Secretary General of the TurkPA, told reporters that the issue of creating a unified alphabet was raised at the sittings of the Committee for Humanitarian and Social Affairs of the TurkPA and found general support there.

"It was decided to take concrete steps in this direction and set up a group of scientists," he said.

According to his story, once the scientists reach a positive result, the united alphabet can be adopted by the TurkPA, the "Trend" reports.

The foreign policy of the Turkic republics and educational issues are the prevailing interests of the TurkPA, said Khalil Akynzhy, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic States. According to his story, they plan to pursue a common foreign policy of the Turkic-speaking countries, the "24.kg" reports.

The TurkPA was established in 2009 in Baku and represents Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
