Officials of Krasnodar Territory fail to attend roundtable on problems of coastal lands
Today, Krasnodar has hosted a roundtable "Problems of protection of citizens' legitimate rights to use forest and coastal areas in the Krasnodar Territory", organized by the Public Chamber of Russia. The invited environmental officials and law enforcers and the administration of the Territory failed to appear at the discussion.
The event was moderated by Sergey Simak, a co-chair of the International Social-Ecological Union. "We have officially invited the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachov, the bosses of the Chief Department of the MIA, the Prosecutor's Office, "Rosprirodnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Nature Supervision) of the Krasnodar Territory, and officials from the relevant departments. Unfortunately, they ignored the roundtable," he said, noting that he treated such behaviour of local authorities as "a big mistake."
However, an employee of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory was present at the roundtable, but he refused to take part in the discussion; he only videoed everything.
The event was attended by representatives of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus," the faction "Green Russia" of the "Yabloko" Party, Greenpeace-Russia, the Russian Geographical Society, the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation, and local civil society activists.
