Commissioner for Human Rights in Ingushetia: no violations of refugees' rights in republic

Internally displaced persons (IDPs) who temporary live in Ingushetia filed no complaint with the Ingush ombudsman's office in 2003, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ingushetia Karim-Sultan Kokurkhayev announced during his meeting with President of Ingushetia Murat Zyazikov. Working in close contact with migration agencies and local authorities, the office of Karim-Sultan Kokurkhayev keeps the situation in places of refugees' temporary accommodation in Ingushetia under constant control, the Commissioner added. As of February 2004, about 30 thousand IDPs from Chechnya still live in temporary accommodation centers and tent camps on the territory of Ingushetia, according to the Ingush Migration Service. Most of them do not hurry to left Ingushetia, despite the recent statements by Chechen officials that the process of home-coming has been stirred up noticeably.
