Conference on issues of counteraction to national and religious extremism takes place in Stavropol

The governor held a conference with chiefs of law-enforcement and security agencies of Stavropol Territory, which was devoted to the issues of counteraction to national and religious extremism.

Various religious sects have been quite active in their missionary work in the region for the last ten years. Participants of the conference were offered to pay attention to two confessions: Wahhabism and Jehovism.

Both the confessions consider the community's opinion to be the one of the higher authority. These canons are aimed at weakening the state and demoralizing the society.

The problem of ethnic extremism is of much concern for the Stavropol region too. Recently there has been sentiment in favor of the creation of a national district in one of the region's eastern areas, which cannot but raise concern of the authorities.
