In Dagestan, mother of four fire casualties is in intensive care unit

The health condition of Ilaishat Alieva, a resident of the village of Tukita of the Akhvakh District of Dagestan, who lost her four children in a fire, is assessed as extremely grave by doctors.

"The patient was taken into the intensive care unit of the Akhvakh District Hospital at 3:30 a.m. in extremely grave condition. Over 50 percent of her body is burnt; she has degree 1-2 burns and symptoms of burn disease. She is under intensive care now," said Abdulmalik Imagadjiev, an intensive care doctor of the Hospital.

The fire message arrived at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time to the headquarters of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the Republic of Dagestan. Four children born in 1997, 1999, 2003 and 2009 perished. Their mother survived and was taken to hospital.

According to Mr Imagadjiev, the fire started at three o'clock in the morning. Ilaishat ran outside to call villagers for help; at that moment the fire broke out with renewed vigour.

"The woman rushed into the house to get the kids out; and then she got her burns," said the doctor.
