Abkhazian refugees seize administration building in Tbilisi

Some 20 refugees from Abkhazia seized the building of Tbilisi's sanitary service on the nights of January 12-13. The refugees said they would stay inside the building until Georgia's authorities helped them return to Abkhazia.

The service's chief Viktor Mokhidze told journalists that the building houses toxic substances whose careless handling could be fatal. Thereupon the police were called to the site of occurrence.

  • Students demand to release actors detained at protests in Tbilisi

    In Tbilisi, protesters intentionally went out into the streets wearing masks, thereby violating the recently introduced ban. Students from two universities have joined the demands to release actors Andro Chichinadze and Vepkhiya Kasradze, who are accused of participating in group violence.
